Langley VS. Concrete

Our game against Concrete was great. I played right tackle, defensive end, linebacker for a play or two, and special teams. My favorite was defensive end because it was where I led a few gang tackles. My favorite play of the game was when we kicked-off to Concrete and Ammon got us the ball back. This was after our first touchdown and it got us all psyched for the game. Concrete was fast. They had running back that was faster than Avery but not faster than Chris. He always kept his feet when he juked and broke tackles even though it was wet outside. We heard from the other coaches that Concrete hasn'y won a game yet which is disappointing because they have some good players.

Rear Window

Suspense: A state or feeling of excited or anxious uncertainty about what may happen. Rear Window is a magnificent example of a suspense movie. Alfred Hitchcock makes Rear Window suspenseful by using background music, limited vision, and the casting of a tremendous acting crew.

The background music is always a large factor in movies. Certain music will make your heart race or even make you jump. Hitchcock used a variety of different classical music in scenes that were romantic as when Miss Lonely Hearts has a date or when Lisa Fremont is in L.B.’s apartment. Music used in Rear Window matches the setting and the environment in which L.B. lives. Fast-Paced music is used when Lisa Fremont is in Mr. Thorwalds apartment.

Limited vision is another part of this movie that makes it suspenseful. The camera shows how it would be to see from where L.B. is sitting because he usually needs something to look through to see farther. Blinds and curtains also make it more suspenseful because it always makes you wonder what is behind them or what is going to that makes the same affect as blinds and curtains. Since the whole building isn’t made of glass you don’t always get the best view of what is happening. Knowing things are there that you can’t see makes the movie a lot more dramatic.

To make a suspenseful movie you need actors that will show there fear and thoughts of what will happen. Stella and L.B. do a great job of piecing together the mystery and have superb acting skills when they see Lisa Fremont in trouble. Lisa Fremont is also an accomplished actress in the scene where she first believes someting is wrong after seeing Lars Thorwald tying up a large trunk with rope. The actor portraying Lars Thorwald also did a marvelous job of making the suspect character arcane and secretive such as in the scene where he finds L.B. is the one spying on him and shows up in his apartment.

Supspense: A state or feeling of excited or anxious uncertainty about what may happen is a perfect word to describe Rear Window. Rear Window has everything reuired for a suspenseful thrilling movie. Background music, acting, and the use of clever camera angles make this movie better than all the rest. Alfred Hitchcock made a masterpiece of a movie shot only in one room. He challenged himself and doing so raised the bar for suspense movies.
