Dustin Carter

March 20th, 2008

One time awhile back I got home from school and my mom had me watch the video on Dustin Carter like the video we watched today. I thought that it was amazing that he had gotten over his difficulties and finally became a good wrestler. Since I am planning on wrestling during highschool I thought his story was very inspirational. I am looking to be a good enough wrestler to do good in the competitions we participate in throught the wrestling season in the highschool. The version of the story I watched on the internet was a little bit different and longer and it showed some of the ways that he trained. Dustin had very creative ways of exercising. It was a very insteresting and inspiring video.

Final 8th Grade Project Idea

March 13th, 2008

For my 8th grade project, I have chosen to write a Healthy Diet Book with different types of diets for different types of people. I think this is a good idea because it is about something important, your health and maybe I will learn things that are good for me. Hopefully my book will end up being fairly long since I will have each chapter be for someone different, whether they are young or old or trying to do something specific. My mentor for my project is Mrs. Gianni. She is the cooking teacher so hopefully she will have good information on healthy foods that can be substituted for other foods. To start my project I am planning to write an outline for what my book will include and what goes where in it. I will get my information for my book from my distant relatives since most of my cousins are very well fit and have healthy lifestyles, I will most likely take the traits of how other diet books organize their information. I like my idea for the 8th grade project and I think it will turn out well.

8th Grade Project

February 26th, 2008

For this year they have brought back the 8th grade project. Last year, they had skipped it for some reason. Everyone is figuring out their ideas for the project and I still don't have a clue on what to do it on. My first thought of what to do was something about the health of your body. After talking to Mr. Jokinen he gave good ideas such as an exercise video or diets mean't for elders. I have been thinking I should do something that can really help someone such as young kids. Things like exercises or eating healthy instructions for kids. I am sure things like those could lower the growing obesity in children and lower the change of getting heart disease when they get older.

Middle/High School Sports

Yesterday I went to the girls middleschool soccer game and the highschool basketball game with Chris and Pat. The soccer game was extremely boring to watch just because of how they played. This is kind of mean but the girls on the field could hear us laughing from the bleachers when they messed up. Pat eventually got tired of it and left leaving Chris and I waiting for the basketball game. The girls varsity won their game something like 6-0. Then at about 6:30 we left the soccer game to watch basketball. I don't play much basketball but it was fun to watch. We got their when the JV was playing and they won their game by about 15 points. The varsity team was fun to watch because of the high pace they play at. The varsity ended up winning with around 54 points.

Boxin'

February 5, 2008

My new elective is Boxing. I have been in this class for two days now and it has been very fun. Since I have been in this class I am already starting to learn new things. On Mondays and Wednesdays we do strength training exercises. This is cool because there are so many different machines to help us. Tuesdays and Thursdays are boxing days. For every boxing day we learn something new. Today we learned a proper stance and how to jab. This is all new to me since I have never boxed. So far this class is going great and it will most likely continue to do so.

Schedule

Jan 24, 2008

My first class of the day is math with Mrs. Mahaffey. I usually walk into her class about 3 minutes after the first bell rings and go to sit with my group Tommy and Harrison. This is one of my better classes because I can usually do good at my work but Mrs. Mahaffey doesnt accept late work which sometimes pts me in a rush to finish. I then head to PE with Mr. Jokinen, he is a very good teacher and is great at what he does. Everyone has fun in his class because he always keeps the games doing well and fair. My next class is Science. This is the class that I get the least work in. Most times I have no idea what Mrs. Hoelting is talking about because she refers to some things that make no sense to me. 4th Period is my elective, Shop. I really like this class because Mr. Sage runs it very well and is a respectable teacher. Lunch is most likely the best part of the day. I get to hang out with my friends and just walk around doing whatever. 5th and 6th period is block which is fun also. I think this is the best class to have at the end of the day because Mr. B is laid back and a very good teacher.

Langley@Lakewood

November 29, 2007

On Tuesday this week we had an away meet at Lakewood. This is probably our shortest bus ride. When we arrived we got to mess around for awhile since we had to wait for the ref. Usually when we are not doing something important we talke to our assistant coach Jason or just hang out. When I saaw their team I wasn't sure if they had anyone my weight so I didn't think I would wrestle. After they matched everyone up we found out Patrick Monell was the only one that didn't have a match. My match was toward the end so I could just rest, watch the matches, and wait. When I finally saw the kid I was going to wrestle, he was about 5 feet, 150lbs, had a mohawk, wouldn't stop smiling and smelled...BAD. After tying up with him I got him to the ground and pinned him with an armbar. I had the fastest pin with 29 seconds into the match.
